NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Stefano Famiglietti was elected as the District 4 State Senator Tuesday night, according to unofficial Rhode Island Board of Elections results.

He won the Special Election against Republican Alex Asermely with more than 80% of the vote.

Famiglietti will replace the late Senate President Dominick Ruggerio, who died in April after a battle with cancer at the age of 76.
