PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)– Gov. Dan McKee has tapped Stefan Pryor, Rhode Island’s former Secretary of Commerce, to return to his old post.
Pryor had previously held that position from 2015 through 2022, when he stepped down to run for Treasurer.
After losing in the primary to current Treasurer James Diossa, Pryor held the role of Rhode Island Secretary of Housing before leaving that position for the private sector in July of 2024.
McKee also announced that Jim Bennett, the interim Secretary of Commerce, will return to the state’s Commerce Corporation is its president and CEO.
In that role, McKee sees Bennett continuing to work with Pryor into the future.
The role of Secretary of Commerce requires Senate confirmation.
