KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The results are in, and Wyandotte County voters have chosen two sheriff candidates to face off in the November general election.
Voters chose to re-elect Wyandotte County Sheriff Daniel Soptic with a 57% vote, and Celisha Towers with a 21% vote.
Soptic, who has served as the county sheriff since 2021, began his law enforcement career in 2004 as a Kansas City, Kansas, park ranger.
He served as captain with the park rangers before it merged with the sheriff's office, where he also served as captain, and since then, he has moved his way up in the agency. Soptic is now seeking re-election for his second term as sheriff in Wyandotte County.
