CLAYTON, Ga. — Clayton County Police said a homicide investigation Monday night led to a pursuit that ended in Henry County.

Officers said the homicide happened at the 7600 block of Connell Drive in Jonesboro. Officers responded to the scene shortly before 5:45 p.m. When officers arrived, they found a man who was pronounced dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

The Clayton County Medical Examiner later identified the man as 33-year-old Demontez Grier, of Jonesboro.

The pursuit, which ended on Centennial Drive in Stockbridge, led to a significant law enforcement presence Monday night. Clayton County Police stressed that none of their officers discharged their weapons during the incident.
