KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Residents in Oak Grove made their way to the polls Tuesday to vote on a ballot measure aimed at increasing the school district's operating tax levy and decreasing its debt service levy, resulting in no change to the overall rate.
Now that the polls are closed, the results show that the majority of residents voted to pass the measure.
According to the ballot, the Oak Grove R-VI School District will increase its operating tax levy ceiling to $3.6061 per $100 of assessed property value for tax year 2025 -- a 70-cent increase from its original $2.9061.
This will balance out with the proposed decrease in the district's debt service tax levy, which will go down 70 cents per $100 assessed property value.
The ballot claims that the funds will increase teacher and staff pay
