PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Department of Justice has named Rhode Island as a “sanctuary jurisdiction” on a newly-released federal list.

An executive order signed by President Donald Trump on April 28 required for a list of states, cities, and counties that “violate, obstruct, and defy the enforcement of Federal immigration law” to be published, according to the DOJ.

The list was released on Tuesday, which identifies the State of Rhode Island and the City of Boston, Massachusetts as sanctuary jurisdictions.
