Brian Snitker has officially shut down Atlanta Braves reliever Joe Jiménez, citing lingering issues with his surgically repaired left knee during rehab in Florida.
Jiménez, the veteran setup man for Atlanta, underwent offseason surgery in late October 2024 to repair articular cartilage damage in his knee and was originally given an 8 to 12 month recovery window.
Originally transferred to the 60-day IL in March, Jiménez was tracking for an August return. Now, even a second-half comeback is uncertain. Snitker said the knee “just kind of wasn’t holding up,” and the Braves have shut him down indefinitely.
Jiménez’s absence has definitely been felt in the bullpen. Without one of their go-to late-inning guys, the Braves have had to shuffle things around and lean on other arms to pick up the s
