Fresno County is poised to change how its departments participate in holidays.
The Fresno County Board of Supervisors directed County Administrative Officer Paul Nerlund on Tuesday to come back with a policy to give the board the ultimate say on which celebrations county departments participate in.
Driving the news: The push for greater oversight from the board largely came from the county’s involvement in Fresno’s gay pride parade. • Last month the board approved a policy that requires board approval for discretionary spending from its departments, with Supervisor Garry Bredefeld noting during Tuesday’s meeting that thousands of county dollars were spent on items to hand out at the parade, including rainbow condoms.
