HAMPTON, Va. — Three Hampton University women’s basketball players traded in their summer break for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity at the WNBA All-Star Game festivities recently in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Guards Tyra Kennedy, Kiki McElrath and forward Diamond Wiggins spent the weekend working side-by-side and meeting the like of Basketball Hall of Famer Tamika Catchings to current 3-time WNBA champion Breanna Stewart and various departments across the league as part of a first-of-its-kind internship initiative between the WNBA and Mielle. The program was designed to create social impact while immersing students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities into the professional basketball world.
