Control of Stirling Council could be left teetering on an even sharper knife edge following the resignation of a Conservative councillor.
Stirling East councillor Bryan Flannagan this week stood down, citing increasing professional commitments for his decision.
However, the resignation puts additional pressure on the four-councillor minority Labour administration, which narrowly survived a vote of no confidence earlier in the summer.
Stirling Council has a total of 23 councillors - nine SNP, eight Conservative (including Cllr Flannagan), four Labour, one Green and one independent.
While at pains to point out there is no formal coalition, the Labour group have led the council with the backing of the Conservatives.
