PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Today in Providence, three coalitions will head to Kennedy Plaza to rally in opposition to service cuts to the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority.

The cuts would change or eliminate 58 of RIPTA’s 63 bus routes.

The Rhode Island transit riders, the Kennedy Plaza Resilience Coalition, and the Save RIPTA Coalition will rally against RIPTA’s proposed line cuts, as the service faces a $17 million budget shortfall.

That rally will be at 5 tonight at Kennedy Plaza.
