Happy 75th!

Leona’s Pizzeria & Restaurant , a Chicago favorite that recently opened an outpost in suburban McHenry, is celebrating its 75th anniversary next week on Thursday, Aug. 14, with 75-cent personal pizzas for the first 75 VIP Rewards members at each location and free full-size pizzas for the first 75 guests 75 years old and older.

The first Leona’s was opened in 1950 in the Lakeview neighborhood by Leona Pianetto Molinaro Szemla and was known not just for its pizzas, but for innovations like branded delivery cars in the early 1950s. They now have locations in the West Loop, Irving Park, Lyons and McHenry.
