An East Chicago man got 18 months in federal prison Monday after admitting he pointed a gun at a family on U.S. 30.

Arnold Flores, 30, admitted to possessing a firearm as an illegal alien, Acting U.S. Attorney M. Scott Proctor said in a release.

Court documents allege Flores pointed a pistol at the car on Oct. 20 after the driver honked when Flores “aggressively” swerved around them. The victims called 911. Schererville Police arrested him later.

Gary Police arrested Flores on Feb. 16 after they found him and three other people using bottles for target practice. Originally Published: August 6, 2025 at 7:09 AM CDT
