A young man was fatally wounded Friday night in a shooting on the South Side in the Chatham neighborhood, police said.
The man, 26, was in a parking lot at the 0-100 block of West 79th Street when two unknown offenders produced handguns and opened fire just before 7 p.m., striking the man in his head and shoulder, according to Chicago police. The man was taken to UChicago Medicine where he was pronounced dead.
No one was in custody as of Friday night, police said, and area detectives were investigating the shooting as a homicide.
