Right-wing political commentator Candace Owens has claimed that Donald Trump urged her to stop calling Emmanuel Macron’s wife Brigitte trans.

Just weeks ago, the French president and his wife, Brigitte Macron, who is not trans, filed a defamation lawsuit against Owens.

In the lawsuit, the Macrons described Owens’ alleged actions, which included releasing an eight-part audio and video series on the false trans conspiracy theory , as a “relentless and unjustified smear campaign”.

In the wake of the lawsuit, the American commentator has not only doubled down on her false claims , but has also claimed that Trump personally stepped in to urge her to stop fuelling conspiracy theories about Brigitte’s gender identity.
