Leicester City have the squad depth to protect Abdul Fatawu and ensure he stays fit for the season, avoiding a repeat of past problems.

Fatawu made his first City start in nine months on Sunday in another significant step in his comeback from an ACL tear last November.

He is not the only senior City player to incur a serious knee injury in recent years, with Ricardo Pereira and James Justin also suffering the same fate.

In the seasons since, both Ricardo and Justin have been hit by further serious injuries, while the former has had a series of muscle issues too.
