Meet the Mets
The Mets lost their third-straight game, for their seventh loss in the last eight games, in a 3-2 result that featured all the hallmarks of this year’s woes. Clay Holmes went just five innings, giving up two runs on three hits and a walk, recording six strikeouts. Tyler Rogers took the loss after a bunch of bloops added up to the insurmountable third run for the Guardians, but the other three bullpen arms threw a combined three scoreless innings. Tyrone Taylor and Pete Alonso each drove in a run, but the whole offense only got a combined four hits, with none of those hits coming after the fourth inning.
