ARLINGTON, Texas — Just so you know what we're watching here: Rangers pitcher Nathan Eovaldi had another sparkling start Tuesday night against the New York Yankees, throwing eight scoreless innings and dropping his earned run average to a miniscule 1.38 – for the entire season .
That's the fifth-lowest in Major League Baseball history through a starter's first 19 starts, according to Rangers broadcaster Jared Sandler .
There's also this little nugget, via OptaSTATS : Eovaldi now joins one pitcher in the modern era – the Cardinals' Bob Gibson – in allowing one run or less in 13 of his last 14 starts.
Yeah, he's been good.
Perhaps a bit frustratingly, Eovaldi is still, somehow, underrated in baseball this season, mostly because his name isn't yet showing up on the ERA leaderboar
