NEWPORT, N.H. —

The Newport Police Department will soon be welcoming a new member to their team.

Meet K-9 Mako. The 14-month-old will be joining the department later this month as part of the new K-9 unit.

Mako will then head to patrol school this fall to learn how to find missing people, search for evidence and apprehend suspects.

Mako will join comfort dog Ebbi, who has been with the department since March 2024.
