ANN ARBOR, Mich. — His name hasn’t come up much publicly, and that may be by design.

Transfer defensive back TJ Metcalf has largely flown under the radar since arriving at Michigan in January, despite turning heads in the spring and positioning himself for a starting role in 2025.

The whispering began during practices in March and April, then ratcheted up in the summer when one Michigan staffer familiar with the defensive back told MLive, unsolicited, to “keep an eye out for TJ Metcalf” this year.
