WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) - The redistricting fight continues in Texas as House Democrats are still out-of-state to stop a vote on a new congressional map.

More states are considering their own maps ahead of the 2026 midterms.

Redistricting typically happens once a decade but with Texas doing it early other states are now considering how they can better their party's chances in the midterm elections.

Democrats are preventing a quorum by staying out-of-state in protest of what they say is gerrymandering.

President Trump says Texas should pass the map aimed at adding five more Republicans to congress.

"We are entitled to five more seats,” said Trump.
