A third person has died in connection with the ongoing Legionnaires’ disease outbreak in London and surrounding Middlesex County, according to just-updated figures from local public health officials.
The death, reported Tuesday, is the first since July 15 and brings the total number of fatalities linked to the outbreak to three. The Middlesex-London health unit has been updating confirmed case numbers weekly on its website since the beginning of July.
According to the update, the number of people currently hospitalized due to the illness has dropped from eight last week to just one.
Despite the new death, the overall number of confirmed cases remains unchanged at 70 for the second week in a row. No new hospitalizations have been reported, with the total remaining at 64.
