A former Miami Heat security officer and retired Miami Police officer is facing federal charges after allegedly stealing hundreds of pieces of team memorabilia and selling them for millions.

Recently, news surfaced that the Miami Heat suffered the largest memorabilia theft ever. The investigations were going on, and now things are crystal clear. Marcos Thomas Perez, 62, appeared in federal court this week on a charge of transporting and transferring stolen goods across state lines.

Prerez, who worked with NBA security from 2022 to 2025, is accused of stealing more than 400 items.
