The Carson City Planning Commission on July 30 approved Carson Montessori Charter School’s request for a special use permit to lease classroom space at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Nevada’s 1870 Russell Way location.

CMCS administrators brought forward the request to continue school operations after an 18-year search has failed to result in viable options for a permanent site.

The BGCWN’s facility is zoned public regional and can accommodate a maximum of 89 students during its daytime hours. The school’s original 2263 Mouton Drive address is considered nonconforming in its limited industrial zoning after it had been grandfathered into its property.
