DARLINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) -- Lottery players in neighboring Darlington County cities each won $500K on $10 scratch-offs at two Refuel convenience stores, officials said on Wednesday.

The first big win came at the Refuel on S. Main Street in Darlington, according to officials. The winner said the $500K will change her life.

"It was surreal," she told the South Carolina Lottery Education. "I asked, 'Are you sure?'"

Then, days later, less than 20 miles away in Hartsville, a lottery player took home $500K themselves on a $10 scratch-off at the N. 5th Street location, officials said.

Each ticket had to overcome odds of just over 1-in-a-million, according to officials, and the Refuel chain did it twice. Both stores received a $5,000 commission for selling the claimed tickets.
