Local firefighters shared safety tips as the last three Johnson County schools resumed for the 2025-2026 school year.

These tips were shared on the respective Facebook pages of the Franklin and Edinburgh fire departments on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Tips for students • Arrive early at the bus stop and wait in a safe place — away from traffic and off the road. • Never walk behind a school bus. When crossing in front of a school bus, students should always do so in front of the bus so the driver can see them. • Stay alert and put devices away when walking to and from the bus stop. • If something is dropped near the bus, never try to pick it up without telling the driver first. • Walk only on sidewalks and crosswalks and look both ways when walking to school.
