TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Department of the Interior Secretary Doug Burgum has announced the reversal of the Biden administration’s approval of the Lava Ridge Wind Project.
“Today, President Trump and Secretary Burgum announced the results of the final review on Lava Ridge, concluding what we in Idaho have known—Lava Ridge is wrong for the Gem State," proclaimed U.S. Senator Jim Risch of Idaho.
The project proposed the setup of a 1,000-megawatt wind facility in Jerome, Lincoln, and Minidoka counties covering well over 57,500 acres of public lands with up to 231 wind turbines. The Bureau of Land Management announced the final approval for the project in December 2024 saying the wind turbines would power up to half a million homes.
