DILLON COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) -- The parents of a man killed by South Carolina Law Enforcement Division agents during a lengthy standoff Sunday in Dillon County have written a letter asking for federal authorities to investigate the incident, citing their distrust of local law enforcement.

Jimmy Jones, 52, of Dillon, died after exchanging gunfire with three SLED agents, authorities said. Those agents have since been placed on administrative duty.

A spokesperson for Jones’ family — Chris Stackhouse — took to Facebook late Tuesday night in a lengthy post. Stackhouse said Jones’ family wants federal investigators to look into the case because of their lack of trust in local law enforcement.
