The defense is ahead of the offense at Detroit Lions training camp, and while that alone doesn't raise red flags with a month to go until the regular season opener, it's starting to become more noticeable.

In a heavy dose of good-on-good work Monday , the first-team defense held the first-team offense without a first down on four full-field drives. On Wednesday, Aug. 6, the defense was dominant again in situational work with the offense only moving the ball thanks to some welfare by coaches who didn't blow several plays dead because of what looked like would-be sacks.
