I have four huge ‘Limelight’ hydrangea shrubs in my yard. I cut them back every winter and fertilize as needed and every year, they produce beautiful blooms—some are at least the size of my head!
While I leave most of the blooms on the plants for curb appeal, I’ll often cut a few to place in a vase on the table or kitchen island, especially when we’re expecting guests. Typically, the blooms last several days, but I was curious if there was something I could do to make them last even longer. After a little internet sleuthing, I came upon several recommended methods for cutting and treating hydrangeas. I decided to test a few to see which ones actually worked best.
