CHESTER COUNTY, S.C. — Multiple agencies are investigating after a person was found dead in the Catawba River in Chester County on Wednesday, officials said.

The Chester County Sheriff's Office said the victim's body was found in the water near the Catawba River Bridge along Chester Highway. The Lancaster County Sheriff's Office and Chester County Swiftwater Rescue Team were called to the scene to assist with the investigation.

The Lancaster County Sheriff's Office later said a driver noticed a man's body floating near the Highway 9 boat landing and called for help. The body was recovered just south of the Highway 9 bridge on the Lancaster County side of the river.

The victim hasn't been identified, and authorities haven't released any further details on a possible cause of death. Searc
