William McDonald was back in a London courtroom Wednesday for the early stages before his retrial for the shocking shooting death of a London man gunned down along a northeast London path 13 years ago.

Before the murder case involving the death of Jonathan Zak can go forward, McDonald needs a defence lawyer and legal aid funding to make that happen.

That was the subject of Wednesday’s brief hearing before Superior Court Justice Maria Carroccia, who adjourned the case until Aug. 14 to allow McDonald more time to get his legal representation affairs together.

The case will then be on track and heading toward a second trial into a death of what a judge described as “a random and defenceless victim” that left the city shaken.
