SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A Springfield man was arrested and faces multiple charges following a traffic stop last Thursday.
Springfield Police Spokesperson Ryan Walsh said that on Thursday, July 31, officers were in the area of School Street and High Street when they saw a vehicle run a red light while speeding in the rain. When investigating further, police found that the vehicle's registration had been revoked.
The officers conducted a traffic stop on the 0-100 block of Maple Street. When speaking with the driver, later identified as 28-year-old Luis Ortiz of Springfield, it was discovered that he did not have a license. Police then searched the car and found a loaded firearm.
Ortiz was arrested and charged with: • Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License • Carrying a Firearm
