Wildfires in northwestern Colorado have grown to more than 30,000 acres with no containment reported for the largest blazes.
The Lee Fire has crossed 22,000 acres, while the Elk Fire is approaching 8,000 acres. The Rio Blanco Sheriff’s Office has posted an evacuation map , and a community meeting was set for 7 p.m. at Meeker High School, 550 School St., where fire managers and local authorities would speak about current and future fire, weather and evacuation status. The meeting will be recorded and available on the Rio Blanco County Sheriffs Facebook page .
The series of blazes has generated large amounts of smoke moving across northern Colorado this week.
