CHARLESTON (WV News) — Thomas Ewing, a circuit judge in Fayette County, will be the next justice on the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals, announced Gov. Patrick Morrisey on Wednesday.

Ewing will take the seat formerly held by Justice Beth Walker, who retired at the end of June.

"Today is a day of excitement for the future," Ewing said. "I look forward to serving the great people of the state of West Virginia. As a native son, this is a dream come true."

Ewing will serve out the remainder of Walker's unexpired term, which runs through Dec. 31, 2028.
