COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - State officials have released statements regarding a shooting that happened on Ft. Stewart military base Wednesday.
Fort Stewart officials said in a press conference Wednesday afternoon that the alleged shooter is an active soldier on the base. He is now in custody and is awaiting trial.
Georgia Governor Brian Kemp released a statement on his X account stating that he is “saddened by today’s tragedy at Ft. Stewart.”
Congressman Sanford Bishop also released a statement on his Facebook account stating that he is “alarmed and saddened” following the incident.
