U.S. Rep. Frank J. Mrvan, D-Highland, believes it would be "reprehensible" for Statehouse Republicans to redraw Indiana's congressional districts this year, instead of in 2031 following the next U.S. Census, simply to try to please Republican President Donald Trump.

The three-term Democratic congressman, whose Northwest Indiana U.S. House district is most likely to be reshaped by redistricting, said the only reason the extraordinary step even is being considered is because the Trump administration recognizes "their harmful policies to benefit wealthy elites at the expense of working families are wildly unpopular."
