PILSEN — A Sunday morning shooting outside a controversial bar in Pilsen left two people wounded, police said.

At 3:23 a.m. Sunday, a 35-year-old man and a 65-year-old woman were outside in the 1800 block of South Blue Island Avenue when they heard a loud noise and felt pain, police said. The man was hit in his right flank and left rear, and the woman was hit in her left leg. They took themselves to Stroger Hospital, where they were in good condition, police said.

The shooting took place outside the Giant Penny Whistle, 1854 S. Blue Island Ave., said Lucia Moya Calderon, chief of staff for the 25th Ward office. It is unclear what led to the violence, Moya Calderon said.

No one was in custody, and detectives were investigating, police said.
