PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A United States Postal Service employee pled guilty on Wednesday to his role in a mail theft ring in Providence, according to Acting United States Attorney Sara Miron Bloom.

33-year-old Darren Camacho, of Providence, pled guilty to conspiracy to steal mail and theft of U.S. Mail by a postal employee.

According to Acting United States Attorney Bloom, Camacho admitted that he and his-conspirators searched through the mail multiple times a week at the U.S. Mail Processing and Distribution Center and stole envelopes between March 1, 2023 and June 26, 2023.

After work, members of the conspiracy would meet at a designated location to open the envelopes and take out cash, gift cards, and checks.
