A man was arrested after reports of disruption on a flight that had to be diverted back to Stansted Airport . Essex Police were called to Stansted just after 8.30am on Tuesday (August 5).

The flight, which was a Jet2 flight due to fly to Crete at 5.55am, was delayed due to the passenger. After setting off, it had to later be diverted back to the airport.

On arrival, officers detained two passengers for searches. Police said one man, who is in his 20s, was then arrested after a quantity of suspected Class A drugs was found.

He has since been released under investigation. A police spokesperson said: “We were called at around 8.40am on Tuesday, August 5 to reports of a disruptive passenger on board a flight bound for Greece.
