DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG) - A man faces several charges after allegedly breaking into a Dubuque home and attempting to sexually assault a teenager.

According to a criminal complaint, 41-year-old Andrew Heiar broke into a home in the 2500 block of Windsor Avenue at approximately 3:45 a.m. Monday.

Police arrived on scene and met with the teenage girl and her parents outside the home. The girl told officers she was sleeping in her room when a man attempted to sexually assault her. The teenager then woke up her parents and told them about what happened. She also told them she believed the man was a family acquaintance.

According to police, traffic camera footage shows Heiar showing up to the home and then leaving.
