ENFIELD, Conn. (WWLP) - The Enfield Police Department is warning of a new scheme, where suspects are allegedly posing as police officers and demanding money.
One resident was allegedly told to withdraw money from a bank in Springfield and meet them at a spot in the city. They then received multiple calls from a number appearing to be the Enfield Police Department.
The suspect allegedly threatened to arrest the victim for money laundering if she failed to follow through with the meeting. Enfield police said that they will never direct residents to withdraw cash, purchase cryptocurrency or gift cards, or pay a random individual.
