DUKES COUNTY, Mass. —

A Massachusetts mother has identified her newborn daughter as the possible case of Powassan virus that is under investigation by health officials on Martha's Vineyard.

Health officials did not disclose where on the island the patient lives, their age or when they were infected. The virus has not been confirmed.

Tiffany Sisco said her daughter, Lilly, had seizures and is receiving intensive care, including antibiotics, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. The family is awaiting the final testing results.

Tiffany Sisco and her husband, Marcus, said shortly after the baby was born, they took her for a walk along a bike path in West Tisbury, with Lilly in a stroller covered by a blanket.
