The New Orleans Saints' special teams will have a new look when they continue training camp Thursday in Irvine, California.
The Saints announced Wednesday that they waived punter Matthew Hayball, who started all of the 2024 season and was still listed as the team's starter on the depth chart released Tuesday.
In a corresponding move, the Saints are re-adding fourth-string quarterback Hunter Dekkers to the roster.
Hayball was in a three-way competition to return as New Orleans' punter with James Burnip and Kai Kroeger, undrafted rookies from Alabama and South Carolina, respectively. The Saints signed Kroeger to join the competition last week, cutting Dekkers to make room.
Hayball averaged 44.0 yards per punt last season, which ranked 30th in the NFL out of 34 qualified punters. His
