ZAVALLA, Texas (KTRE) - According to the City of Zavalla, the city’s water system has been shut down due to outside tampering.

According to the City, they were forced to shut down the water system Wednesday morning when they realized someone had tampered with. The city does not know the full extent of what’s been done to the water system.

State officials will be in Zavalla to test the water system to make sure it is safe to use however, the city states that water service will be off for at least 24 hours.

Additionally, Zavalla ISD has rescheduled the first day of school due to water safety concerns.

Both the City of Zavalla and ZISD say they will be sending out updates on the situation Thursday.
