The Community College of Baltimore County and a state senator are opening the college's Essex pool to the community for the summer.
The Essex area of Baltimore County currently lacks public access to pools, which keeps activities like swimming inaccessible to many residents. According to CCBC, this temporary solution offers an inclusive, welcoming space for residents to cool off during hot summer days.
The community swim hours at the CCBC Essex pool are as follows:
" This initiative is about equity, access, and community ," Baltimore County Sen. Carl Jackson, D-District 8, said in a statement. "For too long, Baltimore County has lacked public swimming facilities — an oversight rooted in long-standing historical inequities. By opening the CCBC Essex pool, we are taking a
