BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- The Diocese of Buffalo cut "roughly" 18 out of 75 positions to fulfill an agreement to pay $150 million to settle over 800 claims of sexual abuse, a spokesperson said Wednesday.

The 18 positions make up 22 percent of the Diocese's Catholic Center personnel. The Diocese said they will be paid through the end of August. Paid holidays will be reduced for the remaining employees and eliminated completely for part-time workers.

Job cuts, along with the relocation of the current Catholic Center offices to 801 Main St., will save over $1.5 million, the Diocese said.

Administration, central support, development and faith formation departments were among those affected by the cuts, said Gregory Tucker, a new spokesperson for the Diocese.
