DETROIT -- The Minnesota Twins threw in the towel at the trade deadline, but that didn’t stop them from being feisty this week.
The Twins, who were largely dismantled at the trade deadline and trotted out a pitching staff full of rookies, beat the Detroit Tigers 9-4 on Wednesday afternoon at Comerica Park.
The loss capped a dispiriting series for the Tigers (66-50), who dropped two of three to the Twins (54-60) and have now lost six of their last seven series.
“We didn’t do enough to win the game and win the series. Obviously, they did,” said Tigers manager A.J. Hinch. “We’ve got a lot of work to do and we’ve got a lot of things to address.
