The Emporia City Commission overrode a recommendation by the Emporia Municipal Planning Commission and approved a Preliminary Planned Unit Development (PUD) during its Wednesday morning meeting.

Cedarbrook Meadows, located at 4500 W 18 th Ave., is a proposed 38 acre, mixed residential and commercial development.The lot recommendations are a minimum of 50 feet in width and a minimum of 6,240 square feet in lot size.

In December, the Planning Commission reviewed the developer’s initial plan to create lots 52 feet by 120 feet. Due to aesthetic considerations, the Planning Commission approved the PUD with a recommendation to increase minimum lot sizes to 7,000 square feet.
