Indiana Michigan Power has entered into an agreement with Google.

I&M has announced a contract with Google to reduce stress on the grid during peak usage periods. WSJM reports that I&M offers customers the option of signing up for a program to reduce their power consumption during times when people are using a lot of power, such as hotter days, in return for credits on their bills.

Google is building a new data center in Fort Wayne that will have large power needs, and this contract will reduce the amount of stress they intend to put on the grid.

The contract is now under review at the Indiana Utilities Regulatory Commission.
